Giving Back – In the Community
At D. B. Root & Company, we take our role in the community seriously. For this reason, charitable and community involvement have been a long-standing corporate objective of ours. Each year, our firm and its associates provide financial support and volunteer time to do our part to improve lives and the community where we work and live.
Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank
The 2016 Charity Golf Outing was attended by D.B. Root clients, sponsors and partners of the firm. Through tournament fees, sponsorships and prize auctions, D. B. Root & Company raised a total of $33,194 for The Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.
The figure is even more significant when factoring in that for every dollar raised, the Food Bank can provide five times that amount in terms of meals. That means the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank is now able to provide more than 150,000 meals to hungry families throughout Western Pennsylvania.
Ride for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
D.B. Root & Company Vice President, Dave Hoffmann and his team participated in the 2016 Race to Anyplace held at Heinz Field Feb 27. The event benefits the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The 11 rider team raised over $1000 and recorded the most mileage of any team – 265.9 miles. Dave did his share of work, riding for 45 minutes in three separate intervals. Another great example of giving back to the community!
Continuing our commitment to giving back to our community, we were honored to have our team donate our time at the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank on December 3, 2014. Friendly competition between packers resulted in a very productive day of helping the hungry.

On September 15, 2014 D. B. Root & Company’s Annual Charity Golf Outing was held in partnership with the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. The event was held at Montour Heights Country Club and funds were raised through golf registrations, sponsorships, client donations as well as live and online auctions. The total amount, $26,793.92 will go even further toward feeding the hungry as the Food Bank is able to purchase five dollars worth of food for every one dollar raised. “We are so proud to have partnered with such a great organization. The team at the Food Bank were fantastic to work with and we are looking to build on our partnership in the future,” stated D.B. Root & Company CEO David Root.

D.B. Root & Company continued their support of Make-A-Wish by holding a charity golf outing at Diamond Run Country Club for clients, sponsors and partners of the firm on October 7, 2013. Through tournament fees, sponsorships and prize auctions, D. B. Root & Company raised a total of $13,320. Special guests at the event included Anthony, a Make-A-Wish child who recently received a trip to Orlando, Florida. “Anthony is an inspiration and hero to anyone who knows his story, and sees his great courage. Having him attend the event allowed everyone to see first-hand what can be accomplished through events like these,” stated David Hoffmann, Anthony’s uncle and D.B. Root & Company Vice President. Leigh Ann Lubarsky, Manager of Program Services for Make-A-Wish, accepted the donation during dinner at the event: “We are very grateful to D.B. Root & Company, their entire team and all of those who participated. With the funds raised, we will be able to grant the wishes of more children – which I consider to be the greatest job in the world.” Click here to sign up for our 2015 Charity Golf Outing!
